Often sequels are never quite as good as the original. Like Ocean's 12; Julia Roberts playing Tess Ocean, pretends to be Julia Roberts but she's foiled by Bruce Willis playing Bruce Willis? Seriously, what on God's green earth was that? We could name another 248 million bad sequels but who has the time. Thankfully, there are exceptions, like the greatest movie of all time... Weekend at Bernie's 2. Just kidding we were thinking of Godfather 2, Dos Palmas is another example of an unbelievable follow up. The 2nd in the Palmas range, it has been aged under flor for 8 years. Moving into a Fino/Amontillado style this is much more intense and much more concentrated than the Una Palma. The wine still has Fino characters of green olives, butterscotch and salted dough but has begun developing oxidative characters of caramel and Christmas cake. Las Palmas Strikes Back!

Gonzalez Byass was founded in 1835 by Manuel Maria Gonzalez, with the first shipment of sherry to london in that first year. Nowadays the company is still run by the Gonzalez family, now in its 5th and 6th generation. They produce a wide range of fortified wines and also ship Champagne, sweet wine from all over Europe. Today, Tio Pepe is the most recognised and greatest selling Sherry in the world.

The Palmas range of sherries is a very limited release of aged wines. Bottled unfiltered and unclarified, the range shows a fascinating journey through the ages of the Tio Pepe solera and beyond. Dos Palmas is an eight-year-old Fino selected from a tiny number of casks in the Tio Pepe Solera still retaining a delicate layer of Flor. More intense and much more concentrated than Una Palma. The flavour is fuller and drier and very long on the finish. Wonderful to drink on its own, but ideally needs a slice of dried jamón. Serve lightly chilled.
