The three winds that this winery takes its name from blow across the incredibly sunny and arid hills of Mendoza, providing a relief from the heat. It's great for the vines, which go on to produce this beautifully rich, raspberry jam-like goliath of a Malbec, but it sounds like a slightly irritating place to visit. If there’s anything that winds us up on holiday, it’s being clobbered by a bracing wind after getting sunburnt. It doesn’t make for attractive holiday snaps.

The Trivento vineyard is based in the Luján de Cuyo and Uco Valley in Mendoza, at an altitude of 1,050 metres above sea level. It has alluvial soil and a drip irrigation system, as the climate is dry and continental, with strong sun exposure, which allows for perfect ripening conditions. The vineyards are planted at a density of 12,000kg/ha.

The vine is cultivated using vertical shoot position trellising and the grapes are hand-harvested in the first week of April and placed into small cases.

The grapes were de-stemmed, crushed and macerated before being fermented for 20 days in stainless steel tanks at 26ºC. Natural malolactic fermentation was then allowed to occur.

The wine was aged in French oak barrels for six months before it was aged in the bottle for five months.

A bright carmine red, this wine has plum and raspberry jam aromas that mingle elegantly with vanilla notes from the six months aged in French oak barrels. Well-balanced, it exhibits sweet tannins and a velvety finish.
