The Valentini winery is one of the oldest in all of Italy. Old enough to have hieroglyphs on their label. Let's just be clear the hieroglyphs are a stylistic choice, the winery does not predate written language... nor does it come from Egypt. Nope, this is a pictorial representation of Homer's epic "Odysseus." The moment Odysseus distracts an angry giant with some delicious wine, then stabs him in the eye with a wooden spear. A bit aggressive but the giant was trying to eat him. We're not sure what the hieroglyph for 'awesome' is but if we did, we'd whack it on the bottle!
The Podere Fiordaliso is located in the “DOC Monteregio di Massa Marittima” hills and lies in the territory of the historical Massa Marittima (GR) town, in the heart of Tuscany, bright, unspoiled and charming land. The production of wine and extra virgin olive oil in Maremma, with its maritime, mild and sunny climate, has ancient origins, dating back to Etruscan times. Today the Maremma has become one of the most important wine production areas in Italy, including DOC Monteregio of Massa Marittima. The Valentini family purchased the Podere Fordaliso estate in 2005; the estate dates back to the 1950s. The winery makes wines that are both traditional and innovative, to be enjoyed by wine enthusiasts and novices alike. The wine making process involves bringing together; Maremma traditions, respect for nature and understanding of the environment. The grapes in Vivoli are hand harvested and fermented in stainless steel tanks. The wine spends time in French oak to give it extra structure.
