Just like Danny O'Donoghue, lead singer of Irish rock band the Script, Viano Vineyards are the winemakers ‘that can’t be moved.’ Whereas Danny ended his commitment to stand his ground the moment he had an opportunity to be the least memorable judge on the Voice, Viano Vineyards are still making the wine in the face of pressure to move.
Located on the other side of the San Francisco Bay, Viano is the only winery left in these parts, refusing to bow to the urbanisation that has consumed the entire Bay area. Like many others, we at Oddbins are very grateful for Viano’s resilience, for the wines they produce are far too special to lose to another tech start-up.
The Zinfandel is powerful and dark fruit scented with notes of black berry, damson, vanilla and white pepper that carry on to the palate and is met with a velvety mouthfeel and long, savoury finish.
