Port Toes' has to be the CUTEST name for a piece of wine making equipment ever! The name refers to an invention that simulates the traditional method of crushing grapes by workers treading on them.

Does it summon an image of springy little robot toes tapping away on the grapes like a piano player? The video in Youtube is less evocative, but the important thing is the result is spectacular.

The nose bears this port house's hallmark perfumed floral and rockrose scent. On the palate are jammy fruits, more floral elegance, excellent length and concentration.

If you don't like talking about feet maybe 'Port Toes' is not cute. Which means this description is self de-feeting.

Warre is the oldest of all the British Port companies- began production in 1670. Owned by the Symington group; a family long synonymous with the port trade and own a large proportion of premium vineyards in the Douro. The Symingtons collaborated with Warre's to replicate the traditional treading technique with machine driven pistons called 'port toes'. Resulting in elegant, floral yet intense wines.

Amidst their impressive port-folio (pun intended) of vintage ports is also the highly acclaimed tawny port Otima 10 (which revolutionized tawny port's image) and the Warre's Warrior- the oldest brand of Port known.

Charles Symington, bears the responsibility of production, following in a family tradition reaching back to the mid 17th century. Charles won the Principal Professional Awards in October 2013; International Wine Challenge, London: Fortified Winemaker of the Year (2003) and Winemaker of The Year – Fortified Wines, Portugal 2006 and 2012.
