They say if you want to inculcate your offspring with an ideology or skill set, you should start them young. If you'd like your progeny to be great linguists, speak to them in different languages, if you feel your child is destined to be Prime Minister, crush all sense of empathy or obligation to their fellow human by sending them to a private boarding school before they have any real sense of self.

Thankfully for Max Dexheimer, his parents had no intention to raise him with the values of a modern politician. Although free to choose his own destiny, Max spent most of his youth roaming through vineyards that were free from pesticides and herbicides, and watching his parents make world class wine with minimal intervention, which was clearly impactful. Now all grown up, Max is the fifth generation of his family to be the winemaker of Weingut Walldorf, continuing the ethos he picked up in his youth of minimal intervention and in 2016 even introduced biodynamic practices.

Producing wines such as this Weissburgunder, distinctly floral with powerful accompanying notes of orchard fruit and white peach, with a rich, textural mouth-feel, it’s clear that for Max’s parents at least, teaching them young was the way to do it!

The winery Walldorf is located in the heart of Rheinhessen, in Saulheim. Viticulture has been shaping our region and our family for centuries. In 1896 the brothers Walldorf founded today's winery ""Walldorf"". Much has changed in this long time; Every generation has shaped the winery and the wines in its own way. Since 2012, Max Dexheimer, the fifth generation has managed the family business.
Weingut Walldorf focus on wines made from Riesling, Silvaner, Weissburgunder and Spatburgunder. The vineyards are cultivated and maintained according to biodynamic principles, to create original, characterful and expressive wines.
