The Oddbins Take

The ridonculously talented Matt Thompson, at Saint Clair, featured on one of our 'Inspire-themed posters, saying 'I became a winemaker because, as a wine drinker, I needed to find a way to make it tax-deductible'. We like his style.

But, when he made this red, he didn't just get a tax break on Pinot Noir, he created something beautiful: a gentle giant, with mellow Morello cherry, pine needles and hints of smoke. Take that, taxman!

They know how to handle Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir Down Under and Down a Bit Further. This pair shows how they can coax out Sauvignon’s zesty charm and get the delicate forest fruit goodness from Pinot Noir and are a sure-fire way to put a smile on some lucky devil’s face.

Pinot Noir, Ooh La La - Mixed Case of 6 Red Wines

    £84.00
Legendry American vintner André Tchelistcheff once claimed, "God made Cabernet Sauvignon, whereas the Devil made Pinot Noir." You may feel this is a little harsh on poor old Pinot, what did it ever do to André, did it leave him for a younger, sexier winemaker? No, although, Pinot is known as the heartbreak grape; so difficult to get right, so vulnerable to so many climactic conditions that it has broken many people who decided to plant it in their vineyards. Yet, perhaps no other grape provokes such passion; sensual and seductive, this case of 6 exceptional Pinots will explain why despite the heartache winemakers still come back to woo this fragile grape.
