The Oddbins Take

They Say

Arran only use the traditional methods of distilling, with wooden washbacks and copper stills. They don’t use peat in the production process or caramel for artificial colouring and all their Single Malts are non-chillfiltered. Arran’s fresh and unique island style is captured beautifully in the Oddbins Private Cask. This whisky was bottled exclusively for Oddbins, is aged at 14 years and unlike any of our age indicated sherries is cask-strength. The whisky presents aromas of citrus fruits with butterscotch and a hint of cinnamon spice. On the palate, it displays a flavour profile of honeycomb mingled with bitter orange and subtle malty notes, building to a tangy sweet finish followed by a final blast of black pepper.

We Say

The Arran is one of the youngest distilleries in Scotland; it’s been making whisky on the Isle of Arran for a mere 22 years. Yet, in this time they’ve bottled some astonishing single malts and for many years they have been a permanent fixture in Oddbins stores. This winter, we were given a bit of an early Christmas present by the Arran distillery; they let us purchase a private cask of a 2003 single malt! They’re like a big Scottish Santa Claus! We know it’s a bit of a faux pas but we’re actually planning on regifting it to our lovely customers (sorry Arran). It’s just, we tried the delicious notes of honeycomb and bitter orange and realised that we couldn’t keep it for ourselves. So, for a super limited time you can purchase this Oddbins exclusive Arran in stores and online.
