What would Grain Whisky be when it’s at home then? Could it be whisky made on the Isle of Grain in Kent? Considering it’s virtually all marsh land and nobody has ever heard of the Isle of Grain, we’re going to guess, no. Grain Whisky is in fact any whisky that is made from a mash that isn’t 100% malted Barley. Corn? Yep, that’s Grain Whisky. Wheat? That’d be a grain Whisky too… You get the idea. It is not a huge category in terms of volume but there are some outstanding examples coming out of Ireland and the U.S.A, if you’re looking for a lighter whisky style they are often a fine choice.
